yale

In book 8 of his Natural History, Pliny describes the yale as a black or tawny creature, the size of a hippopotamus with horns. These horns could be moved depending on what the yale intended to do with them.

yama-uba

A female Japanese mountain demon, the Yama-uba, has the appearance of a woman with long hair. She can transform her hair into serpents, with which she uses to catch human prey, drawing her victims to her mouth which is on the top of her head.

yeck

A small shape-shifting spirit from India, the yeck frequently appear as small furry creatures, wearing white caps. They are strong creatures, strong enough to lift mountains. The enjoy leading humans astray. If a human steal their cap, the human gains the power of invisibility.

yuki onna

The Yuki Onna, or Snow Woman, is Japanese female demon. She inhabits snow storms and causes travelers to become lost. Eventually the travelers become exhausted and freeze to death.
